The Lobby

Choose a table: Chinese Poker or Big Two · Pusoy Dos. Mara, Nico and Luz are computer players, so a deal starts as soon as you sit down. Select Lobby to switch tables, or Rules for a summary of the table you are at. Select VELTRIQUE at the top to return to the lobby at any time.

The Intro

A short intro, with sound, plays each time you open Veltrique: select Tap to enter to start it. Tap anywhere, press any key, or select Skip intro to go straight to the lobby. To watch it again, select Watch the intro at the bottom of the page.

Chinese Poker

You get 13 cards. Set them into three rows: a three-card Front, a five-card Middle and a five-card Back.

• Select cards from your hand, then tap a row to place them. Tap a placed card to send it back to your hand.
• Auto arrange sets a legal split for you; Reset rows starts again.
• The Back must be at least as strong as the Middle, and the Middle at least as strong as the Front. The Front can only make high card, a pair or three of a kind. Suits are equal.
• When all three rows are full, select Showdown.

Scoring: against each opponent, each row is worth one point. Winning all three rows against a player earns six. A hand with its rows out of order is a foul and loses six points to every valid hand; two fouled hands score zero against each other. Tied rows score zero.

Big Two · Pusoy Dos

• The player holding the 3♣ opens, with a play that includes it. Play goes around the table.
• Ranks rise from 3 up to A, then 2. Suits rise ♣, ♠, ♥, ♦.
• Play a single, a pair, a triple or a five-card hand that beats the one on the table with the same number of cards, or select Pass. After three passes in a row, the last player to play leads with anything.
• Five-card hands rise from straight to flush, full house, four of a kind (with any fifth card), then straight flush. A–2–3–4–5 and 2–3–4–5–6 are the two lowest straights.
• Hint selects a legal play for you. Clear unselects your cards. Recent plays shows the last ten plays.

Scoring: the first to empty their hand wins the deal. Each other player loses one point per card left, and the winner earns the total.

Points Only

Veltrique is played for points only. There is no betting, no money, no coins and nothing to buy. The session total at the top of each table adds up your deals until you close or reload the page.

Offline Play

After your first visit, Veltrique keeps a copy of itself in your browser and continues to work without an internet connection. On a phone, you can add it to your home screen from your browser’s Share or Menu option and open it like an app.

Your Information

Veltrique doesn’t need an account and doesn’t save anything about you. Your cards and scores exist only while the page is open. The only thing kept in your browser is a note that you have seen the intro, so it doesn’t play every time.
