Everything you need to study with JPAM Reviewer, the free MARINA exam reviewer from JPAM.
What It Covers
JPAM Reviewer has 600 original practice questions for the four MARINA officer certificate exams, arranged by the STCW competences you are examined on:
- OIC-NW (Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch: Third and Second Officer), 153 questions
- Management Deck (Chief Mate and Master), 147 questions
- OIC-EW (Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch: Fourth and Third Engineer), 150 questions
- Management Engine (Second Engineer and Chief Engineer), 150 questions
Every answer comes with an explanation and a reference, such as SOLAS, MARPOL, the STCW Code or a standard textbook, so you learn the rule behind it.
How to Study
- Under Choose your Competency on the home screen, select OIC-NW, Management Deck, OIC-EW or Management Engine. Each keeps its own progress. The Competency button at the top of a page brings you back.
- Study by topic: select a competence to practise only its questions, or select Practise all topics. Each topic shows how much of it you have mastered.
- Answer: tap an option, or press 1 to 4 or A to D on a keyboard. The answer and its explanation appear straight away; select Next question or press Enter to go on.
- The options are shuffled every time, so learn the answer, not the letter.
Mock Exams
Select Mock exam for 30 questions in 30 minutes, or Long mock for 100 questions in 100 minutes. Mock exams are timed at one minute per item and scored at the end against a 70% pass mark. Some competences on the real examination permit require 80 to 90%, so always check the current MARINA circulars.
Mistakes and Flagged Questions
Questions you got wrong the last time you answered them are collected under Retry mistakes. Select Flag on any question to keep it under Flagged questions for later. Your answers given, accuracy and day streak are shown on the home screen.
Study Sources
Select Study sources on the home screen for links to the official MARINA circulars and to free references. They open on the publishers’ own websites.
The Intro
A short intro, dawn breaking over Manila Bay, plays each time you open JPAM Reviewer. Select Enter or Skip intro to go straight to the home screen, and Replay intro at the bottom of the home screen to watch it again.
Light, Dark and Offline
JPAM Reviewer follows your device’s light or dark setting.
After your first visit, it keeps a copy of itself in your browser and continues to work without an internet connection, which helps on board. On a phone, you can add it to your home screen from your browser’s Share or Menu option and open it like an app.
Your Progress
Your answers, mistakes, flagged questions and study days are stored in your browser on this device. No account is required.
To start again, select Reset progress at the bottom of the home screen. Clearing your browser data, using a private browsing window, or studying on another device or browser also starts fresh.
About the Questions
JPAM Reviewer is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with MARINA. The questions are original, written against the STCW competence tables and checked against the conventions and texts cited. Always confirm the official coverage and passing marks in the current MARINA circulars and your examination permit.
