How to Play

Place bricks from the tray onto the 8×8 grid. Fill a whole row or column to light it out and clear it.

• Drag: drag a brick from the tray onto the grid and let go. On a touchscreen the brick floats a little above your finger so you can see where it lands.
• Tap or click: tap a brick, then tap a square on the grid to drop it there, with the brick’s top-left corner on that square. With a mouse, a preview shows where it will land. Press Escape to put the brick back.

Bricks don’t rotate on their own. When none of the bricks in your tray fits the grid, the round is over, so leave room for the long ones.

Flares

Flares light up on empty squares with a countdown, and every brick you place counts it down by one. Cover a flare before it reaches zero to catch it for +40 points and a burst of surge. If it reaches zero, it burns out into a dead cell: a square you never chose that stays dark until its row or column is cleared.

Prisms, Chains and Lumens

• Prism: clear a row or column made of a single colour and it fires as a prism, worth roughly ten plain lines. The preview ring turns gold when a drop would make one.
• Chain: clears on back-to-back moves build a chain that multiplies your points. A chain survives one quiet move; two in a row and it breaks.
• Lumens: the grid’s brightness. Higher lumens mean more points per line, and more flares.

Surge and Powers

Catching flares and clearing squares fills the Surge meter. Each time it fills you earn a charge (⚡), up to five. Spend charges on:

• Undo (2 ⚡): take back your last placement.
• Hammer (2 ⚡): smash any one filled square, including a dead cell.
• New bricks (3 ⚡): swap the whole tray for three new bricks.
• Rotate (1 ⚡): turn a brick in the tray with its ↻ button.

Powers never cost a move.

Journey, Daily and Endless

• Journey: level after level across 20 chapters, from Spark to Supernova. Each level has a target, such as clearing lines, catching flares, clearing dead cells or reaching a chain, and a move limit. Finish with plenty of moves to spare for three stars. Select Levels to see your stars, move between chapters, or go straight to a level number.
• Daily: one puzzle for the day, the same for every player. It changes at midnight on your device’s clock.
• Endless: play for as long as the grid lets you. Targets appear one after another and reward points or charges, and the grid gets brighter as you clear.

Select Retry to start the current level or run again.

Ranks

Select Ranks to see your best scores for today’s daily puzzle, Endless and the Journey. Ranks are kept in your browser on this device, under a three-character tag you can change at any time. Nothing is sent to us.

The Intro

A short intro, with sound, plays each time you open Lumibrix: select Tap to start to begin it. Tap anywhere, press any key, or select Skip intro to go straight to the game. To watch it again, select Watch the intro at the bottom of the game.

Sound and Offline Play

Select the ♪ button to turn the sound on or off.

After your first visit, Lumibrix keeps a copy of itself in your browser and continues to work without an internet connection. On a phone, you can add it to your home screen from your browser’s Share or Menu option and open it like an app.

Your Progress

Your stars, current level, best scores, ranks, tag and sound setting are stored in your browser on this device. No account is required.

Clearing your browser data, using a private browsing window, or playing on another device or browser starts a new journey.
