Everything you need to enjoy Vovos, the free word journey from JPAM.
How to Play
Each trail is a small crossword with a wheel of letters underneath it. Make words from the letters in the wheel to fill every space in the crossword.
- Swipe: drag across the letters in one continuous movement, then release to submit the word.
- Tap: tap the letters one at a time, then select Connect.
- Keyboard: type the letters, press Enter to submit, Backspace to undo a letter, and Escape to clear.
Words need at least three letters. Each letter tile in the wheel can be used once per word. To undo the last letter while swiping, move back to the letter before it. Select × to clear your selection, or the arrows in the middle of the wheel to shuffle the letters.
Find every word in the crossword to complete the trail and open the next one.
Coins, Discoveries and Hints
You begin with 100 coins.
- Discoveries: real words that are not in the crossword earn 3 coins each, once per trail.
- A little light: spend 25 coins to reveal one letter in the crossword.
- Completing a trail: earns 20 coins. The daily escape earns 35.
Coins are earned only by playing. Vovos has no purchases.
Trails and Your Journey
Trails are arranged in collections of 50. The first trails are short and gentle; later trails use up to eight letters and seven words.
Open Your journey from the map button at the top to see every collection, move between pages, or jump to your current trail. You can replay any completed trail. Completed trails do not award coins a second time.
The Daily Escape
Select Daily escape at the bottom of the screen to play a trail chosen for today. It keeps its own record, separate from your journey, and earns 35 coins when you complete it. The daily escape follows your device’s date.
The Opening and Settings
A short opening plays on your first visit. Skip it at any time, or watch it again from Settings.
In Settings, you can turn gentle sound on or off, turn animations off for a calmer screen, and reset all of your progress.
Offline Play
After your first visit, Vovos saves every trail in your browser and continues to work without an internet connection. When the bottom corner of the screen shows Offline ready, everything has been saved.
On a phone, you can add the game to your home screen using your browser’s Share or Menu option, allowing you to launch and play it like an app.
Your Progress
The following information is stored locally in your browser on your current device:
- Your coins
- The trails you have opened and completed
- The words, discoveries and revealed letters for each trail
- Your daily escape records
- Your settings
No account is required.
Clearing your browser data, using a private browsing window, or playing on another device or browser will begin a new journey.
