What the game stores

Night Mile saves a few settings on your own device: your driver profile (the name and country you enter and your 5-character player code), your best scores, the difficulty you chose and whether you turned the sound off. Your settings never leave your device. Your profile and best scores are sent to our server for the world leaderboard and live races, as described below. Deleting the app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, removes them.

What the game does not do

Live races with friends

When you choose Race with Friends, the game connects to our race server (run on Cloudflare) so the drivers in your race can see each other. It sends your driver name, your country, your player code (used as the race room's code when you host) and your car's position on the road while the race is on. The server passes this straight to the other drivers in your race and does not save it; it is gone when the race room closes. Like any internet service, Cloudflare receives your IP address to make the connection. If you never use Race with Friends, the game makes no such connection.

World leaderboard

When a single-player run ends, the game sends your driver name, country, player code, the difficulty, your score, the stage you reached and the distance driven to our leaderboard server (run on Cloudflare). The server keeps your best score for each difficulty with your name, country and code, plus a scrambled (hashed) version of a random key created on your device, so no one else can post scores or change details under your code. Your name, country and scores are shown publicly on the leaderboard inside the game. We use this information only to run the leaderboard.

The information is kept until you remove it. To remove your name and all your scores, open the game, tap your name on the main menu, then tap “Remove me from the world leaderboard”. You can also email [email protected] with your player code and we will delete it. Changing your name or country in the game updates the leaderboard too.

Saving your progress (optional, website version)

On the website version you can save your progress to an account so it follows you to other devices. If you do, our accounts server (run on Cloudflare at accounts.jpam.studio) keeps your player code, a copy of the game data saved on your device (your driver profile, best scores, car, settings and the key that lets you post leaderboard scores), and a salted, one-way hash of your password, never the password itself. Each signed-in device keeps a sign-in key for up to a year and sends updated progress while you play. Five wrong password attempts lock the account for 10 minutes.

An email address is optional. If you add a recovery email, we store it with your account and use it only to send your player code and a password-reset code when you ask for them (and a one-time confirmation when you add it). Emails are sent through Cloudflare. You can change or remove the address in your driver profile at any time.

To delete the account and its saved data, open your driver profile, tap Delete account, then tap it again to confirm; this also removes your recovery email. You can also email [email protected] with your player code. Signing out keeps your progress on that device.

Game Center and Google Play Games

On iPhone and iPad, leaderboards use Apple Game Center. On Android they use Google Play Games. If you are signed in, your score and your Game Center or Play Games nickname are sent to Apple or Google, under their own privacy policies, so they can show the leaderboards. We do not receive or store this information ourselves.

Website version

When you open the game on our website, your browser downloads the game files from our web host. Like every website, the host receives the technical details needed to deliver those files, such as your IP address and browser type, and may keep them briefly in standard server logs. We do not use this information to identify you.

Children

The game is suitable for all ages. It never asks for real names, email addresses or contact details; the driver name can be any nickname, and we ask players not to use their full real name. If you believe a child under 13 has entered personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
